A Short Biography
My wife Mo and I were both
raised as Roman Catholics and grew up in Long Island, New York. In our
teenage years our families moved to Greenwich, Connecticut, and in the
Lord’s perfect timing, we met - and married in 1966. I entered a
career in advertising as a copywriter, working in several of
Manhattan’s largest ad agencies, while Mo worked at Maryknoll, a
Catholic missionary order headquartered in Ossining, New York, where
we bought our first home. With the births of our four children, Tara,
Chris, Brendan, and Todd, Mo switched to full-time mom and eventually
we moved to Stamford, Connecticut.
From a worldly point of view, we were climbing the American ladder
of success quite nicely. But then, in 1973, Jesus interrupted our
comfortable little lives and showed us how shallow it all was compared
to knowing Him. The story of how God shocked me into realizing I only
knew about Him; how we both had a dramatic encounter with Him
on a Marriage Encounter weekend; how He eventually brought us out of
Catholicism and then Protestantism; and how He led us to leave all our
worldly success and come follow Him is told in my book, Valley of
the Steeples.
In 1982, after an adventurous six-year walk of faith, we were led
back into the “normal” work-a-day world. I returned to my advertising
profession in Philadelphia, and Mo began a successful career in real
estate. Over the years the Lord opened several doors of ministry, but
nothing permanent. I co-hosted a talk show on Christian radio called
OPAL, Ordinary People with Agape Love, for a year-and-a half. As OPAL
we organized an event in Philadelphia called Dependence Day, where we
invited all those “with ears to hear” to come before God and publicly
repent of our independence from Him.
Then, as God slowly awakened us to His restoration of Israel, I
became involved with organizations that blessed the returning Jews and
fought against anti-Semitism, such as the International Christian
Embassy, Jerusalem, Shalom International, Jerusalem USA and the
Zionist Organization of America. In 1984, we led a tour to Israel.
During these years I wrote most of the articles found on this web
site.
Today we both work in real estate and live in southeastern
Pennsylvania. Our four children, their spouses and our seven precious
grandchildren live close by.
And now, after 25 years outside the organized church, God is
directing us to step forth and boldly tell our story in order to
awaken His people to the falseness of institutional Christianity. And
to get ready for the Lord’s return and the final chapter in His
salvation of Israel.
