A Short Autobiography
My wife Mo and I were both raised as Roman Catholics and grew up in
Long Island, New York. In our teenage years our families moved to
Connecticut, and in the Lord’s perfect timing, we met and married in
1966. I entered a career in advertising as a copywriter, and Mo became
a full-time mom with our four children: Tara, Chris, Brendan and Todd.
From a worldly
point of view, we were climbing the American ladder of success quite
nicely. But then, in 1973, Jesus interrupted our comfortable lives and
showed us how shallow it all was compared to knowing Him. The story of
how God shocked me into realizing I didn’t know Him, but only knew
about Him; how we both had a dramatic encounter with Him on a Marriage
Encounter weekend; how He led us to leave all our worldly success and
follow Him; and how He eventually brought us totally out of
institutional Christianity, is told in our book,
Valley of the Steeples.
In addition to showing us what the church is and is not, God slowly
awakened us to the “Hebraic roots” of our faith. I became involved
with organizations that blessed the Jews and Israel and fought against
anti-Semitism. During these years I wrote many of the articles found
on this web site.
Today we both work in real estate and live in southeastern
Pennsylvania. Our four children, their spouses and our seven precious
grandchildren live close by.
